SUMMARY of research interests (100 words)
Nell Benney is a social scientist at the Lancaster Environment Centre, where she is completing her PhD. She brings a labour studies analysis to the UK-based agroecological sector and focuses on how identity, power and class operate in counter-cultural spaces. Her ongoing PhD project aims to understand the cultural and economic reasons for the use of unpaid work/ers on agroecological farms, and how this work is either resisted or accepted by the community. Nell's engagement with this project comes from her experiences as a farm worker, and her work with the new trade union for land workers Solidarity Across Land Trades (SALT).
