Profile
Mike Coogan was born in Birkenhead (UK) in 1969 and attended University of Leicester for both his BSc and PhD (with Dr R. S. Atkinson, studying asymmetric alkene aziridination). After postdocs in Nottingham, Cardiff and Sheffield he took up a temporary lectureship in Organic Chemistry at Durham in 1998. In 2000, he moved to Cardiff, initially as an organic chemist, before joining the Inorganic Chemistry research grouping, of which he became group leader in 2009. Current research interests include organometallic and coordination chemistry and the biological applications of coordination complexes.
