Dimitrios Afouxenidis obtained his Bachelor Degree (BSc (Hons)) in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2007 and his Master Degree (MSc) in “Materials Physics and Technology” (MPT) from the same university in 2009. He specialized in Thermoluminescence (TL) as well as Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) measurements with emphasis on luminescence dosimeters, ceramic materials with archaeological interest and bioceramic materials. During his undergraduate studies he trained in radiotherapy and clinical dosimetry at the Medical Physics Laboratory of the University Hospital of Larissa (Greece). In 2006 he joined the Archaeometry Department of the Cultural and Educational Technology Institute (C.E.T.I., Xanthi, Greece) as an adjunct researcher participating in various research projects. He was also member of the Luminescence (TL/OSL) Research Group headed by prof. George Kitis at the Nuclear and Particle Physics Section of the Physics Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Since July of 2013 he is PhD student at Engineering Department of Lancaster University under the supervision of Dr. G. Adamopoulos, studying large scale combatible solution processed metal oxide-based conductors, dielectrics and semiconductors for high performance transparent thin film transistors (TTFTs).
