Description
I organised and chaired a networking lunch hosted by the LU Africa Research Hub for the 2026 Commonwealth Professional Fellows, bringing together five outstanding African academic and innovation leaders whose work bridges research, industry, and sustainable development. The Fellows included Nellie Longwe Kangwa, CEO of Project Life Design, whose work has built transformative university–industry partnerships across six African countries; Professor Olayinka Omowunmi Adewumi, Acting Director of the Innovation and Technology Management Office at the University of Lagos and a pioneering female engineering leader; Dr Eva Assiimwe, Associate Dean at Kampala International University, whose research and leadership advance inclusive innovation and global collaboration; Dr Mary Mwangi of Kenyatta University, a strategic leader promoting gender equity and sustainability in STEM education; and Dr Frederick Otu-Larbi of the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Ghana, whose research and leadership focus on research commercialisation and societal impact. As organiser and chair, I facilitated dialogue, guided discussions on conducting impactful research in Africa, and fostered meaningful connections between the Fellows and Lancaster University researchers to promote collaboration, knowledge exchange, and future partnerships.| Period | 2/03/2026 |
