Description
Queering the Hospital Through ZiningBen Dalton and Chase Ledin
This morning’s workshop will introduce participants to DIY queer methodologies within the Medical
Humanities. These DIY queer methodologies will be focused in particular on the idea of redesigning the
hospital and imagining the queer hospitals of the future. An introductory talk will cover: DIY queer
methodologies within the Medical Humanities; Zining; Design fiction (DIY); Space Syntax Theory as a queer
methodology. Participants will be invited to use the zine to design one particular room or space within their
imagined queer hospital.
Before the workshop: we will be screening Paul B. Preciado’s Orlando: My Political Biography (2023) after dinner
on 25th (attendance optional). We will also be collecting ideas for a collaborative playlist (e.g. on Spotify) to play
whilst we zine.
