Description

Following a number of conversations and informal meetings between colleagues across FHM and FST, I became aware of a significant amount of individual expertise in many different areas of “Drug Discovery”, including research by bioscientists, medics, chemists, mathematicians and pharmacologists.

I therefore established the Lancaster Drug Discovery Group, with the primary aim of bringing people together from across FHM and FST to hear about research under the broad remit of Drug Discovery and to build links, towards building cross-disciplinary collaborations. In turn, these collaborations will enable us to increase the scope and caliber of research grants Lancaster is in a strong position to apply for.

The Lancaster Drug Discovery Group also has a strong engagement drive, and we’ll explore how we can engage with external partners to further increase successes in the area of drug discovery. 

This meeting was the first step in establishing Drug Discovery as a cross-disciplinary theme at Lancaster, and in developing many potential internal and external partnerships.
